The Cockpit has one mezzanine bedroom: 1x king

The bedroom, overlooking the double-volume living area, is made up of a King-sized bed, en-suite shower-room with basin and loo, plenty of drawers, a lot of books, plus an eccentric leather swivel chair with large desk. A stained-glass window with blue, red and green panes throws an ethereally warm light into the room, while a sash window lets in views of the lush garden below.

Living and Dining

The open-plan, country-style kitchen with fridge / freezer, gas hob, electric oven, free-standing prep island and small farmhouse dining table (seating for 4), is fully-equipped with everything you need to whip up a stay-at-home meal, or a pool-side BBQ in the garden. The kitchen leads, through French doors out onto a covered patio with wrought-iron dining table and chairs (for 6), and separate, relaxed seating area – ideal for long lazy lunches under the trees, or alternatively Franschhoek’s plethora of restaurants, pubs and cafes are within walking (or Tuk-Tuk) distance.

The cosy sitting room has two large sofas, a large armoire hiding a SmartTV (with DStv and Netflix), DVD & CD player and a woodburning fireplace. Downstairs also houses a separate guest bathroom with loo, basin and a large shower; as well as a separate scullery and laundry room off the kitchen.

Eat al fresco on the covered patio, laze on a lounger next to the splash pool, or let yourself sink into the oversized sofas in front of the terracotta woodburning stove, with a glass of wine and a book.

• Dining: Well-equipped kitchen with gas hob & electric oven, fridge/freezer and microwave. A small kitchen table (for 4), and large outdoor eating area with seating for 6.

• Living areas: An intimate siting room, with two sofas, coffee table, TV with DSTV, lots of books and woodburning stove for cooler nights; with relaxed outdoor sofa and chairs under the covered patio, and sun-loungers by the pool.

• WiFi is available throughout the cottage.

• Swimming pool: a sunny, private splash pool set in a treed townhouse garden
